lyrics
I don’t think I like this
She said, “I’m not so sure you should”
But it’s easy to remember
When you feel misunderstood
There's a robber in your heart
There’s tyre marks on the road
A river cuts the mountain
A runner takes the load
Catch the laughter of the mystic
Watching certainty arise
But no one cheers a misfit
If he only points out lies
‘Cos I've lost my faith in oxygen
I've lost my faith in love
I've lost my faith in gravity
Nothing good comes from above
I spy with my little eye
Something beginning with me
You spy with your little eye
Something beginning with you
(Start with me, start with you
Start with me, start with you)
Measure time in numbers
Measure wealth in debt
Advance two squares in peacetime
And trade up your regrets
‘Cos when home lies between fences
And when home lies between walls
It’s ringa-ringa-roses
And everybody falls
The King is in his counting house
Counting out his karma
He lived the life he wanted but
It only made things harder
Knowing what we know
We do what we do
Survival of the unfit
It’s the demolition crew
I spy with my little eye
Something beginning with me
You spy with your little eye
Something beginning with you
(Start with me, start with you
Start with me, start with you)
Could I shelter you to get even?
Its just simple mathematics in the long run
Should I run from you to get heard?
Evolution rolled the dice and missed out
You missed out
I don’t know how to dream this
She said, “Try to hear me out
It’s hard to find good reason
In the shadow of a doubt”
“When you’ve lost your faith in oxygen
You’ve lost your faith in love
When you’ve lost your faith in gravity
Nothing good comes from above”
Throwing mathcore, emo, and ambient into the mix, Estonia's Kaschalot push progressive rock's multitasking approach to its limits. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 10, 2021
Billed as the masters of symphonic prog this album is an interesting of styles and influences. Folky in parts, rocky in others.
Vocals are good and male for a change. Both lyrics and music are involving and all in all this album is a good listen.
I will be looking at The Gift's other offerings. Russell Whyman
