The World Without: Part IV
lyrics
He still worries about his passport photo
And the approval of a man who died many years ago
She still worries about the dress she'll wear
And all the nights she's promised him she never really cared
He hates the thought of making waves
But when he counts out the cost, it drowns everything he saves
She falls asleep thinking back to school
‘Smiles’ were two-a-penny, she was nobody's fool
The season has ended soon
Too soon
I thought this sky would last
The clouds have come undone
Begun
There's something moving fast
He carries heartache like it makes him different
Still can never find the words to tell you what went wrong
She carries daydreams and a list of questions
Living by the ocean, being swallowed by the sea
He carries shame from the school of hard knocks
The school of just desserts
She carries him, thinks it’s what she needs
She's never known the feel of people walking by her side
The season has ended soon
Too soon
I thought this sky would last
The clouds have come undone
Begun
There's something moving fast
The fields have fallen shy
Don’t cry
There’s nothing left to save
It’s all in nature’s way
The day
We moved beneath the wave
Accelerate past the stars
Too far
I swear I heard you shout
No matter how far you are
You’ll be
Within a world without
Chase the hunter
Moving slowly
Chase the hunter
Moving slowly
Stretch this moment out
Bent on heaven
In the world without
She tries to catch him out, he feeds her with suggestions,
Maybe this and maybe that, he'll always dodge the question
But then she'll argue that her honesty's a curse,
Truth has never set her free, it only made things worse
He sits in silence with his father’s smile
Some disenchanted evening with a heart shaped hole
She catches feathers on a lonely hilltop
He thinks it feeds her soul
Throwing mathcore, emo, and ambient into the mix, Estonia's Kaschalot push progressive rock's multitasking approach to its limits. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 10, 2021

Billed as the masters of symphonic prog this album is an interesting of styles and influences. Folky in parts, rocky in others.
Vocals are good and male for a change. Both lyrics and music are involving and all in all this album is a good listen.
I will be looking at The Gift's other offerings. Russell Whyman
